welcome to my blog
Food is life, food is medicine, food give energy and we all need food to survive. We wouldn't exist without food but too much or too little of it becomes a problem. Finding the right balance in order to achieve optimum dietary and nutritional intake is very difficult but achievable.
I am a firm believer that food should be savoured and enjoyed and I don't believe in the concept of calorie counting and FAD dieting but rather, knowing the right balance i.e the right quantity of food, the mix and how much food should come from what food group in order to get the best from our food and for our bodies to make the most out of the food we eat.
Truth be told, Junk is delicious but can be deadly.
I was one of those who never gave thoughts to what I ate; If food looked nice, smelled delicious and tasted good, then why not eat it?
It was not until I was diagnosed with IBS in 2014, that I decided to take a second look at how well I take care of myself and this vessel (Body) am blessed with and to learn to eat well, eat clean and stay healthy.
The challenge I encountered however, was actually taking that first step and psyching myself to start and to find that balance in achieving and maintaining a healthy weight.
It was very difficult as it is the case in transitioning to new grounds. It did however help that I was trained in nutrition which made my transition somewhat bearable.
WHY I STARTED THIS BLOG
The difficulty with food and nutrition is; HOW MUCH IS TOO MUCH, AND HOW MUCH IS ENOUGH?
Food, healthy and clean eating has become a huge global movement and a culture and therefore following this ever changing trend can be very daunting. Healthy eating should not be so much about restricting ourselves to certain foods or avoiding some foods entirely, but rather eating the right amount the right way.
I chose to start this blog in the hope of write about and share with readers my personal experiences in addition to all that I have learned and know about food, nutrition, healthy eating and healthy lifestyle.
There are also not enough Ghanaians and Africans for that matter on the blogosphere, so we are unable to discuss and promote our local foods and lifestyles. I wish for the blog to be a learning and sharing platform and hopefully, the go-to blog for all our health and nutrition information and concerns.
